Managing Director & Partner, British Polo Day
Ben was born into a polo mad family and began playing with his two sisters when he was 8 years old. He has played for England in the winning team at The European Championships and reached the semi-finals of The British Open Gold Cup. During his subsequent military career, Ben was captain of the Regimental, Army and Combined Services Polo teams.
It was a polo related phone call from The Household Cavalry that diverted him into The Army and this led to a horizon expanding Short Service Commission with The Blues & Royals. Deployment to Bosnia & Iraq was followed by a brief ceremonial spell at The Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment during a period that encompassed The Queen’s Birthday Parade.
After five-years with The British Forces Foundation – a military Charity dedicated to boosting the morale of British servicemen and women – as well as managing all UK sales for the family vineyard Coombe Farm Estate Wines, Ben was lucky enough to be invited to play for both Eton & The Army in Jodhpur towards the end of 2011. A lifetime in polo, establishing a brand into one of the most competitive wine markets and the experience of sending big name stars to entertain the troops all over the world instigated discussions that subsequently led the Co-Founders of British Polo Day to bring Ben into the business.
The Vestey family has a history of international business interests and the opportunity to project the best of Britain to all corners of the polo world speaks to this multi-generational heritage.
